Integrated Monitoring Program (IMP)

In 1999 Credit Valley Conservation implemented an Integrated Monitoring Program (IMP) to help determine progress in achieving its goal of "ensuring an environmentally healthy river for economically and socially healthy communities".

The IMP focuses on a diverse range of monitoring parameters that act as indicators of ecosystem health. Integrating expertise from such disciplines as meteorology, hydrogeology, hydrology, fluvial geomorphology, water quality, and biology allows for many facets of the environment to be simultaneously analyzed.

Terra Cotta Silver Creek Management Plan

CVC is pleased to present the completed management plan for the Terra Cotta - Silver Creek Complex of conservation areas. The management plan was started in 2004 and proceeded in three phases which included a situation report, public and government stakeholder consultations, a directions report and the final completed management plan, which was endorsed in 2008 by the CVC Board of Directors, the Niagara Escarpment Commission and the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources.

It is our hope that this management plan will effectively ensure the protection, appreciation and enjoyment of this spectacular piece of the Niagara Escarpment and Credit River Watershed.

Greenlands Securement Strategy (2004)

The Greenlands Securement Strategy is a science-driven, criteria-based process that identifies significantly important conservation land. The CVC Greenlands Securement Strategy recommends at a minimum, over the next 20 years, that 5,670 hectares of greenlands within the Credit River Watershed be secured by CVC and its partners, as these lands will contribute to the foundation of a connected system that will provide natural heritage protection, appreciation and recreational benefits for healthy ecosystems and healthy communities.

This document is designed to complement regulatory and voluntary programs of CVC, and provide practical implementation of regional government and area municipal greenlands securement policies.

Credit River Fisheries Management Plan 2002
The Credit River Fisheries Management Plan (CRFMP) is a joint effort of the Ministry of
Natural Resources and Credit Valley Conservation in partnership with other government
and non-government representatives, providing a wide range of recommendations to
protect, enhance and rehabilitate the aquatic ecosystem of the Credit River watershed.
The CRFMP is part of the watershed plan that guides protection and enhancement
initiatives for the entire watershed.

Ecological Landscaping/Gardening and Restoration Resources
Credit Valley Conservation encourages ecological (or, environmental) landscaping and gardening on all lands. Ecological landscaping is a way of thinking about and caring for land, water, air, plants and animals.

CVC and, in some cases, our partner agencies have produced a variety of fact sheets and information resources for landowners, renters and the landscape industry.

Sustainable Water Management

Changes, caused by Nature or humans, affect the health of our watershed and our communities. CVC has been studying the watershed for many years and we are currently involved in a number of studies that will help us to better assess the health of the river and the local ecosystems.

A brief 4-page report on our activities 1998 - 2000, called "Sustainable Water Management" is available in a downloadable Acrobat (.pdf) version or in hardcopy from our office at 1255 Old Derry Road, Mississauga, Ontario.
